Old newspaper articleIn 1890 the club were known as Tenterden Juniors before becoming Tenterden FC. They merged with local rivals St Michaels FC in 1982.

Club honours include being runners-up in Kent County League Division One in 1992/93 - when they also won the Weald of Kent Cup - and 1994/95. They were Division One East champions in 1995/96 and won the Kent Junior Cup 1996/97.

One of Tenterden's most famous players is Steve Brignall who progressed to a brief professional career with Arsenal. He rejoined the club in 1983 where his presence in the side was described as "stimulating and inspiring". As a junior with the club he scored 12 goals in one game.

Tenterden begin this season with a new name after deciding to merge with junior side Tenterden Tigers, formed in 1996, to provide football for local children. A lack of playing facilities in the town and a need to try and find a new home ground were the main factors behind the merger which has made the club stronger than ever.

Tenterden celebrated their centenary in 1989/90, a year in which they won East Sussex Division one, The Kent Junior Cup Group B, the Hawkhurst Charity Cup and the Jack Freeman Memorial Cup. In fact, the club prospered during the 1980s and 1990's running four teams and they joined the Kent County League in 1981. They reached the Premier Division finishing fourth 1996/97 and 13th the following year. For the 1998/99 season they could field only one side and were demoted.
